Benjamin Bhatt studies alternative splicing regulation and spliceosome mutations in cancer. Spliceosome component mutations (SF3B1, U2AF1, SRSF2, ZRSR2) are among the most common somatic mutations in myeloid malignancies and certain solid tumors, and the aberrant splicing events they generate represent cancer-specific vulnerabilities. Understanding how spliceosome mutations drive cancer and how to target aberrant splicing therapeutically is an active area of cancer RNA biology research.
