Ethan Basch led development of the PRO version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (PRO-CTCAE) and the STAR randomized trial showing that electronic symptom monitoring improves overall survival in metastatic cancer. His work has established PROs as clinically meaningful endpoints. He has shaped FDA and CMS policy on PRO integration.
