Barrie Cassileth

Barrie Cassileth built and led the integrative medicine program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for decades, establishing one of the most respected models for evidence-based complementary care in oncology. She has evaluated numerous complementary modalities including acupuncture, massage, and botanical agents for safety and efficacy in cancer patients. Her research contributed to evidence-based guidelines for complementary therapy use during cancer treatment. She has been a leading voice for distinguishing evidence-based integrative medicine from unproven alternative treatments.
