Rodolphe Barrangou provided the first experimental demonstration that CRISPR systems confer adaptive immunity in bacteria, a discovery foundational to all downstream CRISPR editing technologies. He co-founded Intellia Therapeutics and Locus Biosciences. He is editor-in-chief of The CRISPR Journal and a leading voice in the CRISPR field.
