Glen Barber discovered STING as a master regulator of type I interferon induction and innate immune responses to cytosolic DNA, establishing the cGAS-STING pathway framework. His work has enabled STING agonists as novel cancer immunotherapeutics. His discovery transformed understanding of innate immune interferon responses in cancer.
