Andrea Baccarelli investigates how environmental exposures including air pollution, heavy metals, and endocrine disruptors accelerate epigenetic aging and increase cancer susceptibility. His development of mitochondrial and extracellular vesicle epigenetic clocks has expanded biological age measurement beyond nuclear DNA methylation. His exposome-wide analyses link cumulative environmental exposures to epigenetic age acceleration and cancer incidence in large population cohorts.
