Atanas Kamburov works on the genomic basis of cancer dependencies including CDK12 loss-of-function as a synthetic lethal vulnerability in prostate and other cancers. CDK12 mutations create a tandem duplicator phenotype, and studies have shown these tumors are sensitive to CDK12 inhibitors as well as being immunogenically enriched for immunotherapy. His computational biology work has contributed to characterizing CDK12-deficient tumors and the neoantigen landscape they generate. This research supports development of CDK12 synthetic lethal approaches and combinations with immunotherapy.
