Arlene Forastiere is a pioneer in head and neck cancer systemic therapy at Johns Hopkins who led the landmark RTOG 91-11 trial establishing concurrent cisplatin chemoradiation as the larynx preservation standard of care. Her work transformed management of locally advanced laryngeal cancer and influenced treatment paradigms across all HNSCC subsites. She has contributed to defining cisplatin-based regimens and their role in organ preservation strategies for decades. Her clinical trial leadership has shaped the foundational treatment algorithms still used today.
