Arie Perry at UCSF has been a leading neuropathologist and contributor to WHO brain tumor classification, particularly the 2016 and 2021 WHO classifications that integrated molecular markers (IDH, 1p/19q codeletion, ATRX, TERT promoter, H3 mutations) into brain tumor diagnosis. These molecular-integrated classifications have transformed neuro-oncology by better defining prognosis and treatment implications for each tumor type.
