Anthony D'Amico

Anthony D'Amico developed the widely used risk stratification system for prostate cancer that categorizes patients into low, intermediate, and high risk groups to guide treatment decisions. His research established evidence-based approaches combining external beam radiation with brachytherapy and hormonal therapy based on risk category. He conducted landmark trials demonstrating the survival benefit of androgen deprivation therapy added to radiation for intermediate and high-risk disease. His risk classification system is embedded in international prostate cancer management guidelines.
