Anthony Bhatt studies the co-evolution of cancer cells and their tumor microenvironment during tumor progression and treatment. His research has revealed how cancer subclones remodel stromal and immune compartments to create supportive niches and evade immunity. He has developed spatial genomics approaches to map the co-evolutionary relationships between cancer subclones and microenvironmental cells. His work establishes that tumor evolution cannot be understood in isolation from the evolving tumor microenvironment.
