Anirban Maitra

Anirban Maitra is a world leader in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) biology and early detection research. His laboratory has characterized the molecular evolution of pancreatic cancer from precursor intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) and pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanINs) to invasive cancer, establishing the genomic landscape of early-stage PDAC. He developed serum biomarker panels and ctDNA approaches for early pancreatic cancer detection and has investigated organoid-based drug sensitivity testing for PDAC. His multicenter early detection research programs aim to shift pancreatic cancer diagnosis to the earliest resectable stages when curative surgery is feasible.
