Angela Bhatt

Angela Bhatt advances endoscopic approaches for the diagnosis of biliary tract cancers including cholangiocarcinoma presenting as biliary strictures. Her research has improved diagnostic accuracy for indeterminate biliary strictures using single-operator cholangioscopy with digital imaging and targeted biopsies compared to standard ERCP brush cytology. She has evaluated fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and molecular testing of biliary samples for detecting malignancy in indeterminate strictures. Her work on cholangioscopy-guided biopsy protocols and molecular analysis of bile and biliary brushings has advanced the diagnosis of perihilar and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
