Andrew Bhatt studies the epigenetic mechanisms that maintain FOXP3 expression and regulatory T cell lineage stability. His research has characterized the Treg-specific demethylated region upstream of FOXP3 and how its methylation status governs Treg stability under inflammatory conditions. He has investigated how tumor microenvironmental signals can destabilize FOXP3 expression and convert Tregs into pro-inflammatory cells. His work on Treg plasticity and stability has important implications for Treg-targeted cancer therapies.
