Andrew Anzalone

Andrew Anzalone developed prime editing technology as a graduate student in David Liu's laboratory, creating a versatile genome editing system capable of making all 12 types of point mutations, small insertions, and small deletions without double-strand DNA breaks. Prime editing has major implications for correcting the diverse mutations underlying hereditary cancer syndromes and acquired oncogenic mutations. He joined Columbia University where his laboratory continues to develop and apply next-generation genome editing tools. His work has been recognized with multiple prestigious early-career awards.
