Manuel Amieva studies H pylori interactions with gastric epithelial cells and stem cells and has characterized bacterial colonization of the gastric niche. His work at Stanford uses live imaging and organoid models to understand chronic colonization and carcinogenic transformation. He also studies pediatric H pylori epidemiology.
