Alok Khorana

Alok Khorana developed the Khorana score, the most widely used clinical risk assessment model for predicting venous thromboembolism in ambulatory cancer patients, which has been validated in multiple international cohorts and incorporated into ASCO, ESMO, and NCCN guidelines. His research has established the epidemiology of cancer-associated thrombosis and identified high-risk populations that benefit from thromboprophylaxis. He led the CASSINI trial demonstrating rivaroxaban prophylaxis benefit in high-risk ambulatory cancer patients. His work has transformed VTE prevention in oncology practice.
