Almut Schulze

Almut Schulze at DKFZ has contributed important research on lipid metabolism in cancer, characterizing how cancer cells upregulate de novo fatty acid synthesis for membrane biosynthesis and signaling. Her research has examined the role of FASN (fatty acid synthase) and ACC (acetyl-CoA carboxylase) in supporting cancer cell proliferation and has contributed to evaluating FASN inhibitors as potential therapeutic agents. She has contributed to understanding how lipid metabolism intersects with epigenetic regulation and gene expression in cancer.
