Ali Khademhosseini

Ali Khademhosseini has developed advanced microfluidic and bioengineering platforms for modeling the tumor microenvironment with physiological complexity, combining gradient-generating microfluidics with tunable hydrogel biomaterials to recreate the mechanical, biochemical, and cellular heterogeneity of solid tumors. His 3D bioprinting approaches enable precise spatial positioning of cancer cells, stromal cells, and vascular networks in engineered tumor models. He has created microfluidic devices that generate controlled oxygen and drug gradients mimicking in vivo conditions, enabling study of hypoxia-driven drug resistance. His bioengineered tumor models bridge the gap between oversimplified in vitro cultures and complex in vivo systems.
