Alessandro Vannucchi at Florence has contributed to myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) biology and treatment, including the discovery of JAK2 V617F mutation in MPN (important contribution to the field) and clinical research on ruxolitinib and other JAK inhibitors. His work on the molecular basis of polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and myelofibrosis and on targeted JAK inhibitor therapy has been influential.
