Alessandro Vannucchi

Alessandro Vannucchi is a leading Italian MPN expert and laboratory scientist who has contributed fundamentally to understanding the molecular biology of polycythemia vera and essential thrombocythemia. His research laboratory was among the first to characterize JAK2 V617F and to delineate genotype-phenotype correlations in MPNs. He led the PROUD-PV and CONTINUATION-PV trials establishing ropeginterferon-alpha-2b as an effective and disease-modifying therapy for polycythemia vera. He is past president of the European Hematology Association and directs the Florence MPN Center.
