Alejandro Mazal

Alejandro Mazal is a pioneering medical physicist who has contributed foundational work on proton and carbon ion therapy beam physics, dosimetry, and clinical implementation. At the Curie Institute he built one of the first European proton therapy programs and conducted seminal studies on relative biological effectiveness of particle beams. His research encompasses treatment planning algorithms, pencil beam scanning optimization, and quality assurance for particle therapy. He has been instrumental in training the next generation of particle therapy physicists and in international standardization efforts.
