Dr. Alec Kimmelman is a pioneering researcher who has revealed how pancreatic cancer cells exploit autophagy and metabolic reprogramming driven by KRAS oncogene activation to survive in a nutrient-poor tumor microenvironment. His work has identified novel metabolic vulnerabilities in PDAC, including the role of autophagy and macropinocytosis in fueling pancreatic tumor cell growth, opening new therapeutic avenues.
