Muhyi Al-Sarraf led the Intergroup 0099 trial that established concurrent cisplatin-radiation for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, one of the most important milestone trials in head and neck cancer. This study changed the global standard of care for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. He also contributed to foundational esophageal cancer treatment trials.
