Aikou Okamoto, MD, PhD is Professor and Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo and one of Japan's foremost authorities on ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers. He has led nationwide studies characterizing BRCA1/2 mutation prevalence and clinical features in Japanese ovarian cancer patients, which informed the implementation of BRCA testing guidelines in Japan. Dr. Okamoto has also studied the distinct epidemiological and molecular features of clear cell carcinoma of the ovary, a histotype with higher incidence in Asian populations, and led clinical trials specifically addressing this subtype.
