Emmanuelle Charpentier is a Nobel Laureate (2020) who co-developed CRISPR-Cas9 with Jennifer Doudna. Her work on tracrRNA and its role in CRISPR-mediated immunity was essential to understanding how the system could be repurposed for genome editing. Charpentier continues fundamental research on bacterial systems with therapeutic potential.
