Takahiro Tsushima

Takahiro Tsushima is a Japanese GI oncologist specializing in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, which has high incidence in Japan and distinctive biology from Western esophageal adenocarcinoma. He has contributed to JCOG esophageal cancer trials and has participated in global immunotherapy trials of pembrolizumab and nivolumab in esophageal SCC with Asian patient enrichment. Tsushima has contributed to Japanese evidence on dcetaxel-based second-line regimens, neoadjuvant chemotherapy standards, and immunotherapy biomarker evaluation in Japanese esophageal SCC. His research addresses the specific challenges of esophageal SCC in Japanese and Asian populations.
