Yung-Jue Bang is a leading Asian gastric cancer oncologist who served as principal investigator for the ToGA trial, the landmark study establishing trastuzumab plus chemotherapy as the first targeted therapy approved for HER2-positive gastric cancer. ToGA fundamentally transformed gastric cancer treatment by demonstrating that HER2 testing should be routine in advanced gastric cancer. Bang contributed to KEYNOTE-059, the first immunotherapy signal in heavily pretreated gastric cancer, and has led multiple Korean multicenter studies characterizing gastric cancer molecular subtypes and their therapeutic implications.
