Martin Fassnacht

Martin Fassnacht is the world's leading expert on adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), one of the rarest and most aggressive endocrine malignancies. He led the FIRM-ACT trial, the largest randomized trial ever conducted in ACC, establishing the EDP-mitotane regimen as the standard first-line systemic therapy for advanced disease. Fassnacht has led the European Network for Study of Adrenal Tumors (ENSAT) and developed ACC-specific staging systems and molecular classification frameworks. His molecular biology work identified somatic mutations in CTNNB1, TP53, and RB1 as drivers in distinct ACC subgroups with different prognoses and therapeutic implications.
