👥Biography 个人简介

Rossella Elisei is an Italian endocrinologist and leading expert in medullary thyroid cancer, particularly the genetic epidemiology of RET proto-oncogene mutations and their correlation with clinical outcomes. She contributed to defining the relationship between specific RET codon mutations and MTC aggressiveness, enabling genotype-phenotype correlations used in ATA risk stratification guidelines. Elisei was a principal investigator in the ZETA trial establishing vandetanib as the first approved systemic therapy for progressive MTC and has participated in development of RET-selective inhibitor trials. Her research on calcitonin doubling time as a prognostic biomarker has influenced monitoring guidelines.

🎓Key Contributions 主要贡献

RET Genotype-Phenotype Correlations in MTC

Contributed to establishing genotype-phenotype correlations between specific RET mutations and MTC biological behavior, forming the foundation for risk-stratified prophylactic thyroidectomy recommendations in ATA guidelines.

Vandetanib ZETA Trial

Contributed as European investigator to the ZETA trial establishing vandetanib superiority over placebo in progressive medullary thyroid cancer, the first randomized trial demonstrating systemic therapy benefit in MTC.
