R. Michael Tuttle

R. Michael Tuttle is the leading architect of the dynamic risk stratification system for differentiated thyroid cancer that has transformed thyroid cancer management from a one-time staging approach to an ongoing risk assessment incorporating response to therapy. His work demonstrated that the risk of structural disease recurrence in DTC changes based on response to initial treatment, enabling individualization of surveillance intensity. Tuttle has co-authored multiple editions of ATA thyroid cancer management guidelines and has led large registry studies at MSK characterizing long-term outcomes in thyroid cancer, providing the evidence base for de-escalation of therapy in low-risk disease.
