👥Biography 个人简介
Ben Slotman is a pioneering radiation oncologist and a leader in MR-Linac adaptive radiotherapy who played a key role in establishing the MRIdian and Unity MR-Linac systems for clinical use. He has led major international trials in lung cancer SBRT, prophylactic cranial irradiation, and adaptive MRI-guided radiotherapy, and was instrumental in founding the MR-Linac Consortium—a global collaboration that has accelerated clinical adoption and evidence generation for this transformative technology.
🧪Research Fields 研究领域
🎓Key Contributions 主要贡献
MR-Linac Consortium Leadership
Co-founded and led the international MR-Linac Consortium, bringing together 14 institutions across Europe, North America, and Australia to collaboratively develop clinical protocols and generate evidence for MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy.
Prophylactic Cranial Irradiation in SCLC
Led the landmark EORTC phase III trial (2007) demonstrating that prophylactic cranial irradiation significantly reduces brain metastases and improves overall survival in extensive-disease small cell lung cancer patients, changing standard of care globally.
Online Adaptive Radiotherapy Workflows
Developed and validated online adapt-to-shape and adapt-to-position workflows on the Elekta Unity MR-Linac, enabling same-day replanning based on daily MRI-visible anatomy changes for prostate, cervix, and abdominal tumors.
Representative Works 代表性著作

New England Journal of Medicine (2007)
Practice-changing EORTC phase III trial demonstrating survival benefit of prophylactic cranial irradiation in extensive-stage SCLC.
MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy for primary tumors and oligometastatic disease
Seminars in Radiation Oncology (2019)
