Regina Barzilay is an MIT professor and cancer survivor who applies AI to improve cancer detection and treatment. Her research has developed deep learning methods for early breast cancer detection from mammograms that outperform traditional risk models. Barzilay also applies AI to antibiotic discovery and has identified novel antimicrobial compounds using machine learning.
