👥Biography 个人简介

Lynette Denny is a pioneer in cervical cancer prevention in low-resource settings who has made landmark contributions to screening and treatment strategies applicable to sub-Saharan Africa. Her research established the clinical validity of visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) as an effective screening approach where cytology infrastructure is unavailable, and she developed screen-and-treat algorithms combining VIA with cryotherapy. Denny has led IARC and WHO guideline development for cervical cancer prevention in low-income countries and has driven HPV vaccination implementation research. Her work has shaped global cervical cancer elimination strategies.

🎓Key Contributions 主要贡献

VIA Screening in Low-Resource Settings

Established through clinical research that VIA screening followed by immediate cryotherapy (screen-and-treat) is effective and feasible in low-resource sub-Saharan African settings, becoming the basis for WHO cervical cancer elimination strategy.

HPV Vaccination Implementation

Led implementation research on HPV vaccination programs in South Africa and across sub-Saharan Africa, demonstrating feasibility and developing country-specific strategies for school-based delivery.
