👥Biography 个人简介

Owen Witte is a pioneer of both BCR-ABL oncogene biology and prostate cancer stem cell research. In CML, his early characterization of BCR-ABL as a transforming tyrosine kinase contributed to understanding that led to imatinib development. More recently, his laboratory identified basal and luminal progenitor populations in the human prostate with distinct tumor-initiating capacities, showing that basal progenitors can give rise to adenocarcinoma through defined oncogenic events. Witte has developed humanized prostate tissue systems enabling study of human prostate cancer initiation from candidate stem and progenitor cell populations.
