Co-inventor of the HPV vaccine (Gardasil/Cervarix) with Jian Zhou. His work on virus-like particles led to the first vaccine proven to prevent cancer. Australian of the Year 2006, Lasker Award winner. Professor at University of Queensland and founding CEO of Translational Research Institute.

HPV Vaccine Invention

Co-developed the HPV L1 virus-like particle vaccine technology with Dr. Jian Zhou, forming the basis of Gardasil and Cervarix, which prevent the majority of cervical cancers and other HPV-associated malignancies.

Cancer Immunoprevention Science

Pioneered the concept that viral oncogenesis could be intercepted through prophylactic vaccination, establishing immunoprevention as a viable cancer control strategy globally.
