Young Lyun Oh

Young Lyun Oh is a thyroid cancer pathologist who has made contributions to molecular pathology of thyroid carcinoma in the context of the Korean thyroid cancer epidemic, where a dramatic increase in papillary microcarcinoma diagnosis raised international debates about overdiagnosis. Her work on TERT promoter mutations in differentiated thyroid cancer contributed to understanding how these mutations predict aggressive behavior and recurrence, providing molecular support for identifying low-risk tumors appropriate for active surveillance. Oh has participated in WHO thyroid tumor classification revision and contributed to Korean national guidelines for thyroid cancer pathology reporting.
