Daniel Olive is a world-leading expert on gamma-delta (γδ) T cells in cancer immunosurveillance and immunotherapy. His laboratory has made foundational contributions to understanding how Vγ9Vδ2 T cells recognize phosphoantigens (IPP/HMBPP) upregulated on tumor cells and mediate potent cytotoxicity independent of MHC restriction. He has led clinical development of γδ T cell-based immunotherapies including adoptive transfer and bisphosphonate-based expansion protocols in multiple cancers.
